A big thank you to everyone who made the April 27th inaugural workday at Andres Park a MASSIVE MASSIVE success. We had over 120 volunteers show up as part of the Comcast Cares volunteer workday made up of CAMBr memebers and volunteers, the Comcast Cares volunteers, and many, many more. This great turnout shows us that this park is already something great and will continue to get better.
We got a lot done as part of the workday. Volunteers combed the entire park to remove trash and cut away invasive species of plants from the park. It’s amazing what you’ll find in a park that needs TLC like Andres does. Volunteers removed 55 large bags of trash, three fallen trees, six tires, over an acre of invasive species of plants, and even a mattress!!
In addition to the park cleanup efforts, we also had a big showing to install the first phase of the bike park skills area. Justin started the build in his garage and the folks showed up to move and dig some dirt to get four lines of mountain biking skills park setup including a pump line, an elevated skinny line, and some rock-log lines to ride.
The bottom line is THANK YOU. We cannot do this without community support and if this showing of volunteers and the sheer number of kids who have already ridden the skills area are any indication, GREAT things are happening and will continue to happen at Andres Park.
